May. A month when we encourage everyone to rediscover their bikes and the sheer, simple joys that come from riding. Bike Month motivates new riders and inspires experienced cyclists. Every day, at least 11 million Americans will bicycle. Some will ride on major roads, many on neighborhood streets, others on dirt. A few will pedal 100 miles, while others will roll a few blocks.
One of the best things about bicycling is it’s something you can do today that will make a difference. Bicycling to work or the store means taking personal responsibility for improving your health and saving money, but also helps our community and our country. More people on bicycles mean safer streets, healthier people, cleaner air and more livable communities.
Bike to Work Day Winners
Congratulations to the winners of our Bike to Work Day prizes: Greg Alldredge, Henry Carver, Elle Colquitt, Scott Conger, and Chuck Weber. They won prizes donated by Biketopia, Greenlee's and Harper's bike shops, just by logging their bike commutes with Smart Trips.

I Bike KNX Festival
The rainy weather didn't keep participants from having fun at the 3rd annual I Bike KNX Festival on Market Square on Sunday, May 5. While the Neighborhood Bike Ride had to be cancelled for the first time in its 13 year history, the festival went on. The MUSE hosted a jewelry-making center with bike parts, as well as a table where groups worked together to make art pieces out of old bike parts. Several local bike shops and Knoxville Hardcourt Bike Polo were on hand as well. Photos from the festival can be found on our Facebook page.
