Bike Commuter Fair
May 16, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Come to the Farmers’ Market at Market Square for a display of commuter bikes and all the accessories that can make your commute safer and more enjoyable, like rain gear, fenders, racks, baskets, panniers, and lights.

Ride of Silence
Wednesday, May 16
7:00 p.m.

Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Meet at 6:45 p.m. The ride starts at the parking lot next to the Blount County Courthouse in Maryville. For more info, call 865-681-4183 or visit the website.

Livestrong Day 2007 Poker Walk/Run/Ride
Wednesday, May 16
6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Barley’s Taproom & Pizzeria

Bicyclists, runners, and walkers will have fun completing a social ride/run/walk on a loop course. Volunteers will be on-hand to hand out poker cards along the way…and the best hands at the end of the ride/run/walk will win gift certificates to local sports stores! Liza Graves, former Lady Vol, recent Boston Marathon qualifier, and cancer survivor will speak about her experiences. All proceeds go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Bike to Work Day
May 18
(May 17 for ORNL)

Business Challenge
The company with the highest percentage of employees biking to work on May 18th will win a pizza party, and an award for the business! (ORNL and other companies that don’t work on Fridays will be May 17)

Commuter Stops
7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Bike commuters will receive a free water bottle and gift certificate for a coffee and bagel/pastry for participating merchants. Just stop by one of these locations:

• Market Square
• Tyson Park picnic shelter near playground
• ORNL Main Street (May 17)


Park & Bike Rides
Park your car and bike to work instead! Meet at one of these locations, and join other bike commuters. The start times are the “ready to ride” times, so if you need time to unload your bike or anything else, plan to be there early. Please e-mail or call Kelley Segars at 215-3815 or kelley.segars@knoxtrans.org if you plan to participate.

  • Farragut to ORNL. Meet at KAT Park and Ride on Campbell Station (behind Concord Cleaners) at 6:30 a.m.
  • Pellissippi State to ORNL. Meet at Information Center, 6:30 a.m.
  • Oak Ridge to ORNL. Meet at Jackson Square, 7:30 a.m.

Friday, May 18

  • Farragut to downtown/UT. Meet at KAT Park and Ride on Campbell Station (behind Concord Cleaners), 6:15 a.m.
  • Farragut to Pilot Travel Centers (Lonas Dr). Meet at Fox Road/Emory Church Road (at the railroad crossing) at 6:45a.m.
  • North Knoxville to downtown and UT. Meet at Office Depot/Food City parking lot on Broadway, 7 a.m.
  • Fountain City to downtown. Meet at the former Target parking lot, 5101 N. Broadway, 7 a.m.
  • Downtown to Forks of the River. Meet at Market Square at 7 a.m.
  • Holston Hills to downtown and UT Vet School. Meet at south parking lot for Holston River Park, 7 a.m.
  • Island Home to downtown and UT. Meet at entrance gates at Island Home/Sevier at 7:15 a.m.
  • South Knoxville to downtown and UT. Meet at 4580 Chapman Highway (Food City), 7:15 a.m.
  • Bearden to downtown and UT. Meet at Third Creek Greenway trailhead, 130 Forest Park Blvd (former Bi-Lo), 7:15 a.m.
  • 4th and Gill to downtown and UT. Meet at Central United Methodist Church, corner of 4th and Morgan, 7:20 a.m.
  • Parkridge to downtown. Meet at Caswell Park, 620 Winona St., 7:30 a.m.
