Bicycle/Pedestrian Counts
Bicycle/pedestrian counts are conducted twice a year at various locations in Knoxville and in Blount County. These began in October 2005 at 6 locations in Knoxville. The counts are done manually by TPO/MPC staff. Counts take place during peak hours, from 7-9 a.m., 11-1 p.m. at some locations, and 4-6 p.m. Locations near UT are from 7-10 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. due to class schedules. View the counts >>

Safe Routes to School
We are working with the Knox County Health Department to promote Safe Routes to School to get more kids walking and biking to school.

Smart Trips
Our Smart Trips commuter incentives program has been extremely successful, with more than 40 participating worksites. It promotes all kinds of alternative transportation, but bicycling is a popular choice. This program allows us to communicate with many bicycle commuters.
