Staff

The Program is housed within the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and is staffed by a Bicycle Coordinator. The Coordinator assists the Bicycle Advisory Committee, helps oversee implementation of the Bicycle Plan and coordinates various programs including the Bicycle Mentor Program. Other assistance to the program comes from the Knoxville/Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission.

Bicycle Advisory Committee

The BAC is made up of 12 citizens from Knox, Blount, Sevier and Loudon counties. The BAC was created in 2001 to advise the TPO Executive Board and Technical Committee on bicycle issues. The BAC’s duties include overseeing implementation of the Bicycle Plan, as well as updating the Plan, and promoting bicycling as a means of transportation. Several subcommittees work on issues such as special events, media and marketing, enforcement, and bike network development.

There is also a Blount County Bicycle Action Committee that helps work on issues in Maryville, Alcoa and Blount County.

Check with Kelley Segars to see when the next BAC meeting is scheduled, and what projects they are currently working on that you could help with.
