The Second Creek Greenway has opened restoring a path that connected the Worlds Fair Park to the Tennessee River along Second Creek. The Second Creek Greenway links portions of the city’s greenway system to 1.1 miles of walking trails in Worlds Fair Park.

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam said the city has plans to eventually extend the Second Creek Greenway from the northern end of Worlds Fair Park into the Old City. The city of Knoxville and the University of Tennessee worked together to build the greenway with a majority of the funding coming from enhancement dollars obtained by the office of U.S. Representative John J. Duncan, Jr.
